LIFE BEYOND WILL’S DEATH
AFTER simultaneously enthralling and shocking viewers with a heartbreaking end to its fifth season, TheGood
Wife isn’t slowing the pace, actor Christine Baranski warns.
Baranski, who plays hardas-nails senior lawyer Diane Lockhart, says the shock death of Will (Josh Charles) and the fallout has reset TheGoodWife, throwing the relationships of the three strong women in the show – Diane, Julianna Margulies’ Alicia Florrick and Kalinda Sharma (Archie Panjabi) into sharp relief.
They may be reeling from the loss, but are not paralysed by it.
“Season six is not going to just be fallout. It’s not like we are going to calm down after this trauma. It really hits the ground running,” Baranski told
“The Alicia-Diane relationship could so easily have gone straight to a cliché of the bitchy boss and being threatened and we circumvented that. There is really something quite extraordinary that happens between them as they deal with life after the death of Will.
“Diane makes a really brave life decision. As often happens in life you can make these big decisions … from the gut in a very instinctive place.
“It seems like they are abrupt decisions but they are decisions that have come from a deep place.”
