COPPING AN EYEFUL OF ADAM

ADAM Rodriguez knows how to wear a police uniform. He also knows how to take one off … as we learnt when he joined Channing Tatum’s male-stripper dream team in the hit movie Magic Mike.

Rodriguez is letting it all hang out again in Magic Mike XXL, now shooting in the US state of Georgia. But given it won’t hit cinemas until July, for now our best chance at seeing Rodriguez combine hot and steamy with law enforcement is his new show Reckless.

Creator of the series Dana Stevens hopes Reckless follows in the footsteps of NYPD Blue, a show that “broke ground with sexiness on network TV”.

The hot part is a given, as the show is set in the South. The steamy part is down to the love triangle between Rodriguez (playing a cop, Preston Cruz), Anna Wood (as feisty attorney Jamie Sawyer) and Cam Gigandet (as Jamie’s courtroom opponent, Roy Rayder).

“Preston is a detective who has moved down to South Carolina from New York for reasons unknown at the start of the show,” Rodriguez explains. “Little by little, you get to see more of why I chose to go see what the South was all about.

“Part of that was (Jamie’s) beautiful face. She’s actually my girlfriend and is toying with my heart, while a separate heat is brewing on the side between her and a certain handsome someone.”

That Rodriguez has chosen to play a cop so soon after serving 10 years as Eric Delko on CSI: Miami may surprise some, but the New Yorker believes Reckless packs a different punch.

“I’m getting a chance to do something here that I didn’t for so long playing a cop on a procedural show.

“There’s so much more depth to the characters. You will see all of that mixed together along with the steam and the sex and the heat.”
