DRAMA HAPPY VALLEY

8. 3 0PM, ABC

This dark UK drama has won accolades in the UK and tonight’s wrap-up of its gripping first season (a second is yet to be greenlit but the door is left open tonight). Sarah Lancashire shines in the heroine role of Sgt Catherine Cawood and Tommy (James Norton, above), despite being weakened by a stab wound, is as menacing as ever. A tense, gut-gnawing watch.

REALITY

MAKING MR RIGHT 7 PM, ST YLE Cheesy reality show in which 14 men move into a Californian mansion believing they are in line for makeover that will help them appeal to women. The three women supposedly in charge of their transformation are in fact singletons looking for love. There’s no “so bad it’s good” here. The word cringe springs to mind.

LIFESTYLE

THE LIVING ROOM 7. 3 0PM, T E N Look, there’s the usual travel and renovation – Chris Brown heads to NZ to tour Hobiton (the location of TheLordoftheRings doftheRings movies near Matamata); and Barry ry Du Bois does a fibro house makeover – but for mine this one’s all about Miguel Maestre’s celebration on of the 50th birthday of f the Tim Tam (right), which ch he transforms into an ice ce cream cake, and Tim Tam slams it out of the park.
