On the day of Hughes death, Gilchrist posted: “In the words of another splendid bugger, ‘Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone …’ #whauden #ripphilhughes #allthebestfamily.”
A Ten spokeswoman confirmed the Big Bash team were planning to honour Hughes during their coverage, which kicks off – appropriately – at Hughes’ adopted home ground, Adelaide Oval in a fixture between the Strikers and Melbourne Stars this Thursday night.
