LIFESTYLE LUKE NGUYEN’S UNITED KINGDOM

8PM, S BS1

If you think UK food is all bangers and mash and pork pies, think again. Luke Nguyen (above) has tackled Vietnam and France and now he is out to show that exciting new chefs are bringing Asian fusion to British food. In tonight’s debut, Nguyen and his London-based brother Lewis get new takes on chilli-salted squid and Victoria sponge.

REALITY

AMERICAN IDOL 8. 3 0PM, E L E VEN This is an alert for Idol fans. Eleven is splitting this week’s episodes of the US talent show in two – with the top three performing tonight and the finale tomorrow. Most of the quirky performers, including Joey Cook and Quentin Alexander, have been eliminated, which is a shame. Early favourites Clark Beckham and Tyanna Jones have flatlined. The contest is wide open.

COMEDY

LAST MAN STANDING 7. 3 0PM, ONE Think of tonight’s episode of this so-so US sitcom as a reworking of Aussie drama TheSlap. When Boyd (Robertt Forster) disciplines his greatgrandson with a spanking, son Mike (Tim Allen, right) and d granddaughter Kristen (Amanda nda Fuller) aren’t impressed. Let’s face it, LastManStanding is no Homeome Improvement.
