THE POLITICIAN’S HUSBAND
8. 3 0PM, ABC
The Brits do TV drama so well, and this follow-on from the critically acclaimed The Politician’s Wife is no exception. The short-run series looks at what happens when the tables turn. Aiden Hoynes (David Tennant) is a pollie whose star is on the rise, until his ambitions are suddenly cut short and he’s relegated to obscurity. His wife Freya (Emily Watson, above) is catapulted into the limelight – a dramatic power shift he struggles to accept.
DANCING WITH THE STARS
It’s simple viewing. A bunch of personalities – “celebrities” is a pretty generous term – perform various dance routines in a bid to impress a panel of judges. It’s good, clean family viewing. And who doesn’t love dancing? Don’t judge me.
IF YOU ARE THE ONE
7. 3 0PM, S BS2
If this dating game show was made in any other country than China, it wouldn’t work. It’s a dated formula but China does it with such enthusiasm, candour and brutal honesty that it makes for fascinating and addictive viewing.
