THIRD TIME LUCKY?

HEY Hey is very much still on the table at Nine, according to Somers.

“People still ask me about the show every day,” he says.

Considering the huge success of Seven’s Molly Meldrum miniseries, Jo Beth Taylor’s recent stint on Ten’s I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! and a national ad campaign featuring Plucka Duck on TV, maybe it’s not a bad idea.

“If it’s going to happen I would like it to be this year as it is 45 years since we started (the show) and 60 years since TV began,” he says.

“I’m sure everyone would want to be involved if they can. I’d love to get Ernie (Carroll, the man behind Ossie Ostrich and Somers’ Hey Hey co-producer) back in some way.

“I understand Russell (Gilbert) is feeling much better. I haven’t spoken to him myself yet but I’ve heard he’s doing well.

“I’d love him to be part of Hey Hey when we do it. Molly too, but that could prove more difficult.”
