SPIN-OFFS are the new black when it comes to an in­com­ing crop of TV se­ries this week.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN WON­DER­LAND

Orig­i­nal se­ries: Once Upon a Time Aussie ac­tress So­phie Lowe (right) stars in the US fan­tasy drama, with char­ac­ters drawn from the Lewis Car­roll books. Lowe’s Alice is com­mit­ted to a men­tal in­sti­tu­tion af­ter telling her fa­ther of a mys­ti­cal world that ex­ists on the other side of a rabbit hole. But just as she is about to be lobotomised and lose her mem­o­ries, the Knave of Hearts and the White Rabbit res­cue her and re­turn Alice to Won­der­land.

THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF DAL­LAS

Orig­i­nal se­ries: The Real Housewives of Or­ange County Get your cow­boy boots at the ready, the re­al­ity se­ries is head­ing to the land of oil barons and beauty pageants, Dal­las. Five new so­cialites are ready to bare all for the cam­eras and, from the trailer we’ve seen (the show is fast-tracked from the US), it looks like they’ll be giv­ing our own Mel­bourne Housewives a run for their money when it comes to down-and-dirty slang­ing matches.

FEAR THE WALK­ING DEAD

Orig­i­nal se­ries: The Walk­ing Dead Both a pre­quel and a com­pan­ion se­ries, sea­son two picks up this week with Madi­son (Kim Dick­ens), Travis (Cliff Cur­tis) and the oth­ers (in­clud­ing Aussie Aly­cia Deb­nam-Carey, right) tak­ing to the sea in the hope there’s still a chance some part of the na­tion might be un­af­fected by the zom­bie apoc­a­lypse. But when the mil­i­tary start bomb­ing the land to cleanse it of the In­fected, there is only one place for the Dead to go… and it’s not on land.
