SHARKS ARE BACK FOR A SECOND BITE
THE first series of Shark Tank produced some big success stories. Here are three of the new inventions that Sharks Steve Baxter, Janine Allis, Andrew Banks, Naomi Simson and Dr Glen Richards will fight over this season.
Entertainment entrepreneur Lynton V. Harris devises amusement park attractions themed around successful movies. When he won the rights to create the Sharknado Alive experience, based on the hugely successful Sharknado movies, Harris’ first thought was to get Shark Tank involved. Harris offers an opportunity to become 50 per cent partners and says they’ll make their money back from the first installation.
CAR NEXT DOOR
Will Davies and Dave Trumbull come into the Tank looking for $300,000 for a 4 per cent stake in their carsharing business, Car Next Door, which allows car owners to make money by renting out their cars. After two years’ trading, the company is turning over $2 million a year with a gross profit of $675,000.
Matt Gillett is a designer and innovator with a novel approach to versatile footwear. The 2-SHU are flip-flops that can convert into shoes, enabling the owner to transition seamlessly from an afternoon at the beach to dinner at a nice restaurant or a night out at a club. Matt wants $150,000 for 40 per cent of his company.
