Bligh portrait to be unveiled in Parliament
THE official portrait for Queensland’s first female premier Anna Bligh will finally be unveiled at Parliament House tomorrow, more than five years after she left office.
Ms Bligh (pictured) told The Sunday Mail the portrait was delayed by her cancer battle and a heavy work schedule after she recovered.
Ms Bligh chose award-winning Queensland artist Julie Fragar to paint the portrait.
“This will be the first portrait of a woman premier to hang in Queensland Parliament,” Ms Bligh said.
