ATTENTION pro golfers who haven’t made too many cuts lately, and weekend hackers who, in the words of Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry, are “feelin’ lucky”. Suncorp Stadium is holding its annual charity golf day at The Pines, Sanctuary Cove on Friday, October 20 and this year they are offering a prize that Tiger Woods wouldn’t sneeze at. UBET has put up $20,000 cash for the first person to score a hole-in-one on the fourth hole. All you have to do is carry 172 metres from the back tee, avoid two bunkers at the front of the green and stay out of the creek that runs along the right of the fairway and the dam on the left. Piece of cake. The golf day, now in its eighth year, raises funds for Wally Lewis’s favourite cause, Hear and Say, which teaches children who are deaf to hear and be heard. Last year it raised over $60,000, taking the total so far to $280,000. This year Suncorp Stadium general manager Alan Graham is hoping for a similar r result and thanks to the quality of the “money can’t buy” experiences offered through the online auction, they should ace it. As last year’s event showed,s not all the heavy hitterst are on the golf course. The top item features two ticketst to the Melbourne Cup ini the Birdcage, return airfares, luxury overnight accommodation at the five-star GrandG Hyatt Hotel and chauffeuredf transfers. Last year the same experiencee went for a record $27,500. All auction items can be viewedv at galgolfday17
