MEET Millie, Queensland’s new mooovie star. Milk lovers can watch the six-year-old guernsey via cowcam – believed to be the first in Australia. It live streams on the Maleny Dairies’ website and YouTube, and has been seen by more than 2000 people. Millie won the role ahead of about 200 other cows at the dairy. Staff say she has that Xfactor. “We chose Millie because she has been our tour cow for a while now and has a lovely calm temperament,” marketing manager Emily Gouge said. “Millie is also very used to getting a lot of attention and will poke her head through fences to let kids pat her.” Cowcam came about as a way to educate people about the dairy industry and show that the farm’s cows are well treated. There are also plans to turn the camera on milestones at the Sunshine Coast hinterland farm, such as the birth of calves. “The health and wellbeing of our cows is at the heart of what we do, and we hope the cowcam will show the kind of lives they lead,” Emily says.
