The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - - NEWS -

A TOWNSVILLE medical practice director suspended from practice and facing criminal charges has told a tribunal he is just about bankrupt.

The Health Ombudsman suspended Dr Praveen Kumar’s registration on August 30 last year, after it was found he was an “immediate risk’’ to patients due to allegations he had sexual relationships with two.

Five witnesses were on Friday declared special witnesses and will give evidence in a separate room during a Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal hearing in Brisbane next year.

Kumar founded My Family Doctors in Kirwan.

“I’ve just about lost everything ... I’m about bankrupt,’’ he said, speaking at the directions hearing by phone from Townsville. “I I need to come back to work.’’
