THE Illawarra Hawks re­cov­ered from a slug­gish start to beat the Ade­laide 36ers 96-87 last night.

Trail­ing at ev­ery change and by as many as 15 points early in the third quar­ter, the Hawks staged a fourthterm fight­back, outscor­ing the Six­ers 33-15.

Amer­i­cans Demitrius Conger (26 points, 10 re­bounds) and Rot­nei Clarke (24 points, eight re­bounds) led the way for the vis­i­tors. Ra­mone Moore (24 points, 12 in the fi­nal pe­riod) helped Ade­laide when it mat­tered.

MEL­BOURNE United bounced back from a heavy loss to Cairns to score a 108-90 win over Sydney yes­ter­day.

After be­ing out-hus­tled in a big loss on Thurs­day night to the Taipans, United won the re­bound­ing bat­tle with the Kings and shared the scor­ing load for their fifth win of the sea­son at Hisense Arena.

Casey Prather led with 22 points, Tai Wes­ley made nine-of-11 shots with three triples to fin­ish with 21, and Josh Boone racked up a dou­ble-dou­ble in the first half.
