The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - - NEWS - JEREMY PIERCE

IT MIGHT be good weather for ducks this weekend, but Gold Coast doggos are eagerly awaiting their time to shine.

Pups on SUPs will see dozens of dogs take to the Gold Coast Broadwater for a stand-up paddleboarding contest on October 28.

Last year’s inaugural event was a smash for Surfing Queensland, with even bigger numbers expected this year.

Australia’s “Dog Whisperer” and former world champion tandem surfer Chris De Aboitiz will be at the event, offering a threeminute training session for every canine competitor as well as attempting to break a world record, to see how many dogs he can carry on his 5.1m board.

Gold Coast lifeguard Liv Hall will enter along with her French bulldog Penelope.

“She loves it,” she said. “Our family is always in and around the water.” LIE DOWN: Tugun lifeguard Liv Hall and her French bulldog Penelope are ready for this year’s Pups on SUPs event. Picture: Adam Head
