Abortion law slammed

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - - NEWS -

AN Opposition MP has slammed the Labor Government’s abortion legislation allowing terminations up to 22 weeks into a pregnancy.

Dr Christian Rowan, the LNP Member for Moggill and Shadow Minister for Communities, told a rally outside Parliament yesterday the laws were part of a government pursuing a “hard, left-wing agenda on a multitude of fronts’’.

“This legislation is not pro- choice legislation,’’ Dr Rowan said. “This legislation is proabortion legislation.”

The rally was significantly smaller than September 1, when up to 4000 people crammed into George St to march. But organisers said they were impressed with the turnout given the rain.

Dr Rowan said he was disappointed the AMA supported the laws which are expected to be debated this week.
