The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - - NEWS - CHRIS HONNERY

THESE Queensland champions are gearing up for Suncorp Stadium’s Charity Golf Day this month to raise money for the Hear and Say Foundation.

The ninth annual event is being held at Sanctuary Cove and this year a separate auction prize – two nights at the Pullman Hotel with helicopter transfers to Sirromet Winery for lunch – has also been added to raise funds for the Queensland Drought Appeal.

NRL legends Wally Lewis and Gene Miles, along with current Brisbane Broncos Matt Gillett and Corey Oates, will be swapping the footy for the 9 iron, in support of the event on October 26.

Suncorp Stadium general manager Alan Graham said his passion for golf was slightly better than his ability, but he’ll be heading along to support the great cause.

“I’ll be out there having a swing,” he said. “And it’s sensational to have the support of Wally and Gene each and every year.”

Since its inception, the Golf Day has raised $326,000, with another $50,000 expected this year. To put in a bid for the auction prizes, visit ssgolfday.com.
