THE driv­ing force be­hind the World’s Big­gest Garage Sale says the past few weeks have been the most chal­leng­ing of her life.

Yas­min Gri­gal­i­u­nas, 41, be­gan run­ning garage sales to raise funds for breast can­cer af­ter her mother, Jenny Mills, her ma­ter­nal grand­mother, Joan Bell, and her grand­mother’s four sis­ters were all di­ag­nosed with breast can­cer.

Last month, Ms Gri­gal­i­u­nas lost her mother to breast can­cer, and just two days later her hus­band, Leigh, lost his fa­ther to liver can­cer. “It has def­i­nitely been the most chal­leng­ing time ever,” she said.

The mother-of-two said she never con­sid­ered can­celling next Satur­day’s World’s Big­gest Garage Sale, which is set to raise more than a quar­ter of a mil­lion dol­lars for char­ity.

“My mum would never have wanted me to can­cel be­cause of her pass­ing,” she said.

The World’s Big­gest Garage Sale will be held in Bris­bane’s south at Unit 6, Ar­ca­dia In­dus­trial Es­tate, 836 Bound­ary Road, Coop­ers Plains.
