Irwins honour Steve at gala
THE Irwins rolled out the red d carpet for their celebrity friends and supporters at the annual Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in Brisbane last night.
Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin (right), who glammed up p in a classic combination of khaki and black, were joined by the likes of David and Lisa Campbell, Georgie Gardner, Ellie Gonsalves, Adam Brand, Troy Cassar-Daley and Laurel Edwards at the event, held in honour of the late Crocodile Hunter.
But the guest list wasn’t restricted to those in suits and frocks, with a number of creatures also strutting their stuff in front of the cameras, including a cheetah, echidna, koalas, birds and snakes.
Last night’s soiree at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre marked the 12th year of the charity dinner, which supports the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors, raising funds for domestic and international conservation projects and recognises the efforts of young conservationists from around the world.
Earlier, Terri tweeted about her excitement about paying tribute to the passions of her husband, who died in 2006.
“Looking forward to celebrating everything Steve loved, tonight at our Gala Dinner It’s all about wildlife, family and fun!” she said.
Bindi, who was joined by long-term boyfriend Chandler Powell on the red carpet, previously revealed yesterday’s gala was going to be the family’s biggest yet, with 700 guests attending, saying the family were “humbled” by the support.
