When it comes to their health­boost­ing pow­ers, it seems not all sports are cre­ated equal. Those re­quir­ing a rac­quet are the best pick in terms of life-sav­ing ben­e­fits, with ten­nis, squash and bad­minton linked to a 47 per cent lower risk of death from any cause, ac­cord­ing to a global study of more than 80,000 adults led by re­searchers at the Univer­sity of Syd­ney. These were fol­lowed by swim­ming, aer­o­bics and cycling. Fur­ther re­search is needed to shed light on the rea­sons for the find­ings.
