De­spite mak­ing your life eas­ier, on­line shop­ping could be bad for your health. A UK sur­vey found that peo­ple over the age of 65 are fail­ing to hit the rec­om­mended tar­get of two strength ac­tiv­i­ties per week, and shop­ping on­line isn’t help­ing. Since car­ry­ing gro­ceries is a form of re­sis­tance train­ing, avoid­ing this ac­tiv­ity can in­crease your risk of falls and lead to loss of mus­cle mass. Can’t face the su­per­mar­ket? The re­searchers sug­gest gar­den­ing or stand­ing up and out of a chair 10 times for an ex­tra strength work­out in­stead.
