A re­cent study of more than 4000 el­derly peo­ple by Duke-NUS Univer­sity in Sin­ga­pore con­firmed what many of us have long sus­pected – that there’s a di­rect link be­tween be­ing happy and liv­ing longer. Af­ter track­ing study par­tic­i­pants over a six-year pe­riod, the re­searchers dis­cov­ered that the chance of dy­ing pre­ma­turely was 19 per cent lower in the el­derly peo­ple who were happy. So stay ac­tive, eat well and sur­round your­self with loved ones to boost your chance of a long and happy life.
