THE PEABODY MEMPHIS OVERNIGHT RATE $317 (TRADITIONAL ROOM)

Five ducks walk into a bar … from their penthouse home, via the elevator, then proceed down a red carpet to the hotel fountain. The punchline is that this longstanding charade has happened twice daily since the 1930s. The Peabody Ducks, as they’re known, even have a Duckmaster who has doubled as bodyguard for their celebrity appearances on

The Oprah Winfrey Show and Tonight Show. You won’t find any duck on the menu at on-site restaurant Chez Philippe. Traditional afternoon tea is served between 1pm-3.30pm and, for the kids, there’s Duckie Tea. Dating back to 1925, this beautiful historic building was renovated with all the mod cons in 2013 while keeping an antique aesthetic. The hotel is firmly planted in the heart of ‘Blues City’, close to the Gibson guitar factory and Sun Studio.
