THE GOPRO THAT CAME BACK

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - Escape - - YOUR VIEW -

Ilost my GoPro off a kayak in the Greek islands and after almost 12 months underwater someone found it and posted a photo on a travel company page. The photo was shared by 163 people and it reached me in 18 hours from the original post. The person who found my GoPro is now uploading and sending lost travel photos back to me. HARD COPY

Don’t discard your hard-copy air travel documents, including your itinerary, air ticket, boarding pass, and luggage claim until you have landed at your destination and claimed your luggage. My insurer requested all these documents as proof of travel when I had to make a lost luggage and delayed travel claim. PHYLLIS VOSGERAU

DOUBLE USE

Keep a spare complimentary body lotion tube from hotels. It’s great for skin care and polishing up your shoes. SUSU LUCAS

SAVE IN SWITZERLAND

When travelling in notoriously expensive Switzerland with a family have a look at the Swiss pass. It allows extensive, clean, efficient and super panoramic travel on buses, trains, boats and funicular all over the

country, and the best bit is that children under 16 travel free.

HOT DRINKS

We never travel anywhere without our immersion heater. We can always have a hot coffee after a long day of travelling or sightseeing. We carry sachets of instant cappuccino and our KeepCups. For Europe and Britain you need a 240-volt one and the US needs a 120-volt. (Buy the US one in any homewares store). Use your plug adaptor and attach the immersion heater. They are small and light.

ZIP IT

I always travel with small zip ties. They are handy for securing zips and for running repairs. On a recent trip to Japan, a wheel on my roller luggage began to delaminate so I secured it with zip ties and it lasted the trip.

HANDY SNAP

Instead of reaching for the plane overhead locker to grab your passport in order to complete immigration paperwork, have a picture of it on your phone. It is also extremely handy to have a photo of your passport in case it becomes lost or stolen.
