9 AMAZING PRIVATE POOLS

Take the plunge with a room that has its own luxury pool

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - Escape - - WISHLIST | RESORTS - PAUL EWART

1 THE MULIA RESORT & VILLAS NUSA DUA, BALI

The biggest hotel complex in Bali, Mulia Resort & Villas in Nusa Dua on the island’s east coast, also boasts the highest concentration of private villa pools among Bali’s five-star hotels.

One of three ultra-luxurious properties that make up the hotel’s 30ha of tropical gardens and coastline, the 108 Mulia villas range from one- and two-bedroom checkins through to the palatial Mulia Mansion. And the standout feature of each villa? The full-size pool.

Set against a backdrop of tropical gardens and the Indian Ocean, each pool sits alongside a large deck and open-air living area. Residents can wallow on a daybed in the shallow section of the pool, or work up a sweat via the built-in “hydrotherapy” machine, which offers lap-lovers resistance swimming.

The extravagant stay has attracted an appropriately VIP clientele, such as royalty, presidents and Hollywood stars including Stranger Things actor Millie Bobby Brown and Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell.

Pools aside, each check-in comes with inclusive private butler service – think pick-ups and drop-offs in your own golf buggy and mammoth bathtubs prepared so you can enjoy a soak without lifting a finger – and then there’s the mammoth on-site spa, voted one of the best spas in the world by Conde Nast Traveler. 2 JADE MOUNTAIN ST LUCIA

Widely renowned as one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful hotels, each of the infinity pools in the 29 Jade Mountain suites (“sanctuaries”) takes in the jaw-dropping view of the surrounding ocean and the towering Petit and Gros Piton mountains – in fact, it’s the only resort that overlooks both of St Lucia’s twin peaks.

Stretching out to maximise the vista, the pools range from 37-65sq m and each features a shallow “lounging” area for in-pool reading or cocktail-sipping. Suites also come with outdoor “chromatherapy” (that’s colour-therapy for the uninitiated) lit whirlpool tubs too. JADEMOUNTAIN.COM

4 QUALIA QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

When it comes to living the suite life Down Under, there’s nowhere quite like Qualia. Located on Hamilton Island’s northernmost tip, the luxury resort has lured some of the world’s most famous faces – think Oprah, Chris Hemsworth, Cate Blanchett, and Leonardo DiCaprio – to its most decadent villas. Part of the appeal is undoubtedly its private pools.

Taking in sweeping Coral Sea views from the adjoining sundeck, Qualia’s north-facing Windward Pavilions each come with a sundrenched plunge pool.

Guests can go one level higher by upgrading to the Beach House, the most opulent of the resort’s private pool villas. This serene retreat comes with a 12m infinity-edge lap pool that makes for the ultimate check-in. QUALIA.COM.AU
