Who needs Wonder Woman when you have Megan Gale? Her cinematic turn as the Amazonian warrior might have failed to eventuate when director George Miller’s Justice League franchise was shelved, but the Australian model proved to be in possession of a few superhero qualities of her own when travelling to New Zealand with Stellar for today’s cover story. With rain threatening to interfere with plans to shoot a heavily pregnant Gale amid the cliffs of the North Island, the 41-year-old decided it was time to call on her Maori heritage. “The day started with rain and gale force winds and after Megan had a quiet chat with her ancestors the weather eased so we could catch the breathtaking views of the beautiful coast,” explains creative director Aleksandra Beare. With a stunning series of photos safely in the bag, Gale sat down for a candid chat about motherhood and family. Also opening up with remarkable courage is federal MP Emma Husar, whose account of surviving domestic violence is raw yet inspiring.
