Wellness and wine in British Columbia
Canada is one of the fastest-growing destinations for Australians, but beyond the arctic cruises, “BC” truly shines in summer. The Okanagan region is dry and sunny, ideal for vineyards – but also sits on a 135km-long lake, so outdoor adventure rules.
Sparkling Hill Resort is quite literally the crowning jewel overlooking Lake Okanagan. It’s a European-inspired wellness destination created by the patriarch of the Swarovski empire, so more than 3.5 million crystals have been incorporated into its design.
The Okanagan Valley is British Columbia’s premier grape-growing region, with more than 130 wineries specialising in world-class pinot noir, chardonnay, pinot gris and merlot. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit during their tour last year.
The Okanagan is an outdoor junkie’s paradise in the warmer months. The lake lends itself to sailing, stand-up paddleboarding and canoeing, while the mountainous terrain is home to an array of hiking and off-road bike tracks for experts and novices alike.
