Blame it on Australia’s tall poppy syndrome, or perhaps the contagious sense of outrage that fuels certain pockets of social media, but for whatever reason Delta Goodrem is one of those people who brings the haters out in force. She has her loyal fans too – millions of them, in fact – but in some circles it’s fashionable to sneer at anything The Voice star does. For Goodrem herself, who prefers to focus on the positives of a career that is now in its 17th year, the “predictable and boring” backlash is something she has learned to tune out. “The other stuff is not real life,” she tells Stellar. “The hate… it just washes off me. Part of me wants to thank those people who made me this strong to be able to brush it off – because it’s really freeing.”
