GOOD GIRL GONE BAD AS JONES RETURNS

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - TV Guide - - News -

PLAIN Jane Superbrain has grown up to be a scheming publican with the police on her trail.

It’s enough to make Mrs Mangel turn in her grave – but what a spectacularly fun return to TV form it is for Annie Jones, who shows her saucy side in this guest role as some-time madam Mrs Bentley on The Doctor Blake Mysteries finale.

The former Neighbours star admits she still finds it hard shaking off the “good girl” tag she earned on the long-running soap, but relished getting a little naughty alongside former Ramsay Street alumni Craig McLachlan and The Henderson Kids co-star Nadine Garner.

Dressing the part also required her to don some racy underwear, she says. “Because it’s set in the ’60s, for authenticity all the women wear the ’60s underwear ... so we were getting around in the pointy bras and the girdles, all that,” Jones says with a giggle.

The 50-year-old has eased her way back into acting after years as a carer for her mother, Elizabeth. “I love learning lines and just the discipline aspect of it all. And, of course, the camaraderie ... when you’re working on a show.”
