IF there was ever a time for the world to break into song, it’s a pan­demic, right? This is more than just tween brain candy worth re­vis­it­ing. The first big hit for uber-pro­ducer Ryan Mur­phy tack­led ev­ery­thing from ho­mo­pho­bia and racism to sui­cide and di­ver­sity. Jane Lynch as coach Sue Sylvester pushes the bound­aries with her scathing one-lin­ers, but just when this dram­edy threat­ens to se­ri­ously of­fend, the mu­si­cal num­bers lighten the tone and re­in­force some im­por­tant mes­sages.
