$ 300m to fight disease

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - NEWS -

DEADLY infections that could spread rapidly through Indo-Pacific countries and damage the regional economy, will be fought off with a cash injection from the Australian government.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop will today announce a $300 million investment to help prevent and contain outbreaks of disease in Indian Ocean, eastern Pacific and north and south-east Asian countries as well as Australia.

The package will include funding for research into tuberculosis and malaria.
