WORK­ERS are de­mand­ing ac­cess to de­fib­ril­la­tors to stave off Aus­tralia’s big­gest killer — car­diac ar­rest.

A new poll has found eight out of 10 peo­ple be­lieve hav­ing de­fib­ril­la­tor pad­dles in the work­place should be manda­tory. At the mo­ment, close to 10,000 Aus­tralians die un­ex­pect­edly from sud­den car­diac ar­rest ev­ery year, but only one in five work­places have a de­fib­ril­la­tor and close to two-thirds of em­ploy­ees don’t know how to use one.
