The Socceroos’ char­ter flight ar­rives in Syd­ney this af­ter­noon, hav­ing departed four hours af­ter the fi­nal whis­tle. They ar­rive al­most 24 hours be­fore the Hon­durans, whose hor­ror trip is ex­ac­er­bated by a 14-hour stopover p in Los An­ge­les, g , while many y play­ers are fly­ing econ­omy.

THE TEAM

Mathew Leckie and Mark Mil­li­gan re­turn from sus­pen­sion while Rob­bie Kruse is rac­ing to be fit af­ter miss­ing the last fort­night with a knee prob­lem. Late sub Tom Rogic will come into the XI, while Tim Cahill could start.

THE EQUA­TION

It’s as sim­ple as could be. A win for the Socceroos on Wed­nes­day night g will en­sure a fourth suc­ces­sive World Cup ap­pear­ance. A loss or score draw and the dream is dead. An­other 0-0 stale­mate and it’s ex­tra time and maybe penal­ties.
