How sweet it is for the new Charlies

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - NEWS - HARSIMRAN GILL

MEET the four young stars who will be playing Charlie in the new stage show Charlie And The Chocolate Factory — and they will be the only children in the cast.

Lucy Maunder, who will play Charlie’s devoted mum Mrs Bucket, said this will set the new show apart from the rest.

“The other Golden Ticket winners are all played by adults and I think that highlighting Charlie as the kid is a really interesting decision that the creative team made,” she said.

Maunder draws inspiration from her mother, opera singer Ann-Maree McDonald.

“She was back at work, on stage, with me when I was six weeks old,” she said. “I grew up in the theatre, I grew up in her dressing room and I loved every minute of it.”
