Justice for pregnant doctors
PREGNANT doctors have been forced to wear their own clothes because old-fashioned rules never imagined medicos would need maternity scrubs.
NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard has now righted the wrong by providing maternity scrubs for doctors — nurses have had them for years — after a Tamworth doctor wrote to him, complaining her employer, the local health district, had told her she had to buy her own scrubs if she could not longer fit in the standard provided ones.
Western Sydney’s Dr Lucy Bates, who gave birth to son Charlie just a week ago, trialled the new scrubs.
“They were very comfortable. I wish I’d had them earlier,” she said.
