Aussie ad artist a net sensation
AUSTRALIAN performance artist
Gabrielle Miller has become an internet sensation after starring in a massive TV and print campaign by hotel search site Trivago.
An actor, dancer and theatre performer, Miller is now familiar to millions of people, with her ads on air across the UK, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, the US and South Africa.
She landed the gig after filming an audition video on a nudist beach in Greece. While she was clothed, she said the trick was to avoid the “bare bottoms” in the background.
Two years later, she’s being recognised in London, where her picture has been splashed across train stations, inside tube carriages, and all over prime time TV.
Miller, who lives in Berlin told Confidential she was recognised “for the first time last week in London, which I found hilarious and a bit shocking too”.
“At the airport I placed my bags on the security check and the guy leaned in and whispered, ‘are you who I think you are?’, and I was like, ‘well’, and he said, ‘you know, I feel like I know you’,” she said.
Confidential caught up with Miller at the Flash Festival in Arezzo, Italy, last week, where she was performing with Zap, the swing jazz band she formed with her Australian fiance Will
Henderson, and Greek percussionist Petros.
Miller was born in Coffs Harbour and, along with her two brothers, grew up travelling Australia with her parents, who ran a mobile breast cancer screening clinic. The family settled in Cairns, where Miller spent her high school years and she later moved to Yandina on the Sunshine Coast.
She left Australia nearly five years ago to study in Berlin.
