Libs exit on WAXIT
WAXIT appears dead after the WA Liberal Party State council refused to back attempts to form a committee to “examine the option of WA becoming a financially independent State”.
State president Norman Moore moved a motion to suspend standing orders, which would have allowed debate on the formation of the committee, but this was defeated.
Another attempt by Mr Moore to form another committee to look at constitutional changes to the party also failed.
Sources said the refusal to support Mr Moore had left the State president “wondering whether there was a lack of confidence in his leadership”.
Mr Moore yesterday refused to comment.
The party gained national notoriety earlier this year when a motion to become “financially independent” passed 89-73.
