Loz shares Lolz of Instagram life

The Sunday Times - - News - ANNA CHRISTENSEN

LAUREN “Loz” Curtis’s life changed forever while working in the cosmetics department at Target in 2011, when one day she took out her iPhone 4 and started filming.

The term “influencer” hadn’t yet be coined, but the Perth beauty’s timing was perfect. Fast forward seven years and she has 3.6 million YouTube subscribers, 1.4 million Instagram followers and 2.1 million likes on Facebook.

The beauty blogger made the switch to full-time “vlogging” in 2014 when she realised she was making more money through ads and sponsored content than through her job at the beauty counter of David Jones.

But the 25-year-old is also a self-confessed introvert, which is why she’s happy to keep things real in her native Perth rather than chase the bright lights of Sydney.

“Events and public appearances are very nerve-racking for me. Lots of YouTubers are this way, because your whole job is just you filming on your own in the comfort of your own home,” she tells STM today.

Curtis will make her first public appearance in Perth at a Q&A session at Lakeside Joondalup’s Springfest from 1pm on Saturday.
