Praise for Trolley Man

The Sunday Times - - BOURKE STREET BLOODSHED -

THE have-a-go-hero who tried to stop a terrorist with a shopping trolley says “it was a spur-of-the-moment thing”.

Michael Rogers wielded only the trolley, pictured, as he tried to help police stop the knife-wielding terrorist.

“I have seen the trolley to the side and I picked it up and I ran and threw the trolley straight at him and got him but didn’t get him down. And I did that motion a few times and it just was not getting him down,” he told Seven News.

“It was a spur-of-themoment thing because two police officers arrived at the time, and the guy was out of control. So I just went into action mode, threw the trolley and tried to swipe him out.”
