Gaga tells of mental battles

The Sunday Times - - WORLD -

LADY Gaga has called on Hollywood to provide better mental health care for people in the entertainment business.

In a 25-minute speech at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Patron of the Artists Awards in Beverly Hills, she described her “mental health crisis” that prompted her to seek professional help after becoming overwhelmed by work commitments.

“I began to notice that I would stare off into space and black out for seconds or minutes,” Gaga said.

“I would see flashes of things I was tormented by, experiences that were filed away in my brain with ‘I’ll deal with you later’.”

She said her struggles “later morphed into physical chronic pain”.
