CUT-PRICE ferry tickets to Rottnest Island will help launch a new seafood festival for the island getaway.

Called Seafood Saturday and to be held on November 24, the celebration of all things seafood includes a mix of ticketed events and free activities.

Retired West Coast Eagles footballer and avid fisherman Mark LeCras, pictured, has signed on as ambassador and will run fishing clinics.

Ferry tickets to the island on the day will start from $30 return.

Seafood Saturday includes catch-and-cook crayfish boat tours, a seafood degustation dinner, a beach barbecue, sunset tours, long-table dinners, a beach bonfire and a live cooking station, from 10am to 8pm, with late ferries scheduled.

“I’m looking forward to hosting some family-friendly fishing clinics on the day and I’ll be helped by some very knowledgeable Rottnest locals in the form of Rottnest Island rangers,” LeCras said.

“They know the island waters.”

The fishing clinics will be held at Thomson Bay, at 10.30am, 11.30am and 1.30pm. Register online or onsite.
