Daniielle hot for Hollywood

The Sunday Times - - NEWS -

WENTWORTH star Daniielle Alexis is heading to Hollywood.

The Perth-born actor revealed to Confidential she has signed to talent management company ATN Entertainment.

Alexis said she is the first Australian-born transgender woman to be signed to a Hollywood acting management company.

“It’s a huge achievement what I’m doing over there,” Alexis said.

The actor and BHP contractor is planning to move to the US next year.

Alexis is back in her hometown for

Pride, which takes place in Northbridge on November 24.

A familiar face to many in WA’s LGBTQ community, she is representing the Court Hotel on its parade float and at its after party.

The 30-year-old transitioned from male to female when she was 18.

She said she had seen a massive shift in how society treated transgender people from when she first transitioned.

“Twelve years ago it was a different world, no one knew what trans was, really,” Alexis said.

“When I would say to guys I was transgender, they would say, ‘what is that?’

“And they would think I was lying, so I have really seen the worst of it and I have also seen how far it’s come.”

She credits high-profile actors Caitlyn Jenner and Laverne Cox for inspiring her to follow her acting dreams.

“They were actually the two reasons that gave me the strength to come out in my own country and start my own legacy,” Alexis said.
