The Tatura Guardian - - News -

Member for Euroa and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Steph Ryan is encouraging Euroa residents to nominate a businesswoman who has inspired them.

Ms Ryan said nominations for the 2015 Telstra Business Women’s Awards were now open and it was the perfect opportunity to nominate an inspirational local woman.

‘‘Women throughout the Euroa electorate are actively involved in business, contribute to their communities and demonstrate leadership every day,’’ Ms Ryan said.

‘‘Often these women receive little recognition for the work they do and these awards provide an opportunity for communities to show their appreciation.’’

Ms Ryan said the award criteria included qualities such as compelling vision, overcoming adversity, creative problem solving, relationship building, negotiation in business and mentoring others to succeed.

The six award categories are: Start-Up Award; Entrepreneur Award; For Purpose and Social Enterprise Award;

Government and Academia Award;

Corporate and Private Award; and

Young Business Women’s Award.

‘‘Our region is notable for strong female leaders, from the pioneering days when Euroa’s Eliza Forlonge introduced Merinos to Australia, to the many women who are leaders in their fields including agriculture, the arts, business and industry,’’ Ms Ryan said.

‘‘Nominations close Sunday, June 28, and I would encourage everyone to nominate a local woman who inspires them.’’
