Bakery wins again
Tatura Hot Bread continues to rack up awards, after competing in the Bakery Association of Australia’s Best Pie/Pastie’ competition in Melbourne recently.
Owner Glenda Alexander said on Friday, the bakery had a successful competition, winning Best Gourmet Beef Pie with its chunky pepper pie.
‘‘It was a big surprise, as we had never won a major prize with this pie before, although it has always been popular in the shop,’’ she said.
Mrs Alexander said apprentice Ben Werner entered the apprentice section and won a Silver Award for his traditional pastie, and a silver for his plain pie.
‘‘The bakery also won Silver Awards for our chicken pie, plain meat pie and breakfast pie, along with Bronze Awards for our chunky beef pie, chicken pie, traditional pastie, vegetarian pastie and gourmet pastie,’’ she said. ‘‘All of this capped off a successful competition. ‘‘Come in and try an award-winning pie today.’’
