Residents call for bus to Tat for 4.31 pm service

particularly difficult for those who could no longer drive vehicles.

‘‘Even if you parked your car at Murchison East, it’s not secure like here in Tatura,’’ Mrs Wright said.

The Wrights said the changes had caused taking a round day trip to be far longer, with the only return service to Tatura departing at 7.10 pm.

‘‘When you go to see a specialist you’re not feeling well and if you could get back on the 4.30 pm service it’d be fantastic,’’ Mr Wright said.

A V/Line spokesperson said the 4.31 pm train service from South- ern Cross Station connected with a coach service to Griffith and had not been scheduled to stop at Tatura.

‘‘Depending on demand, additional stops at Tatura will be considered for future timetable changes,’’ the spokesperson said.

The Wrights encouraged all residents to push the demand for a connecting bus service from Murchison East to Tatura on the 4.31 pm train service.

‘‘All they need to do is add a connecting bus service,’’ Mrs Wright said. ‘‘If all Tatura people write letters it’s going to bring about change.’’

The couple said they had taken their concerns to State Member for Shepparton Suzanna Sheed.

Ms Sheed said although the introduction of the 4.31 pm train service through to Shepparton from Southern Cross Station had been well received and was popular with people, there had still been several issues that arose from its introduction.

‘‘I understand there may be a further adjustment to the timetables during the course of the year and it’s important the concerns of Shepparton district residents are clearly conveyed to ensure these are taken into consideration,’’ she said.

Ms Sheed said she had raised the concerns with the Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan, and Public Transport Victoria and encouraged residents to also forward their concerns to PTV, as well as her office.

Liberal Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell last month described the service as dysfunctional and unacceptable, also raising the issues with the Public Transport Minister.
