Dig deep for appeal
Tatura Lion’s Club and fire brigade members will be out in force this Friday, collecting funds for a great cause — the annual Good Friday Appeal.
Lion’s Club spokesperson David Moreton said members would be doorknocking throughout the day.
‘‘The CFA will be stationed at the roundabouts on the east and west side of town as well as the fire station,’’ Mr Moreton said.
He said volunteers were encouraged to get down to the station by 9 am on Good Friday to grab a tin and help rattle throughout the day..
‘‘People can come down to the fire station to leave donations; they’ll be there until 3 pm,’’ Mr Moreton said.
A Tatura SES unit spokesperson said their orange army would also be lending a hand throughout the day with collections.
Top Pub owners Jenny and Frank Lagozinno will host the annual Good Friday Auction for the third consecutive year, offering an entertaining way to donate to the cause.
‘‘There’ll be more than 100 items up for grabs,’’ Ms Lagozinno said.
‘‘We’ll be having a charity auction, raffles and giveaways; all donated by businesses across the district.’’
She said there would be live music by Linchy from 2 pm onwards and the guest auctioneer would be former Australian Rules player Mark ‘‘Jacko’’ Jackson.
‘‘People can come along and get a photo with Jacko and enjoy the fun day out,’’ Ms Lagozinno said.
‘‘We try to make asmuch money as we can for the appeal.’’
Ms Lagozinno said those present could also simply donate to the various tins throughout the venue.
The Good Friday Appeal collection day takes place this Friday, April 14.
Collecting for a good cause: Tatura Fire Brigade members Darren Rennie, Peter Fiddes, Declan Tyson and Alan Tyson rattled their collection tins at last year’s Good Friday Appeal.
