Dig deep for ap­peal

Tatura Lion’s Club and fire brigade mem­bers will be out in force this Fri­day, col­lect­ing funds for a great cause — the an­nual Good Fri­day Ap­peal.

Lion’s Club spokesper­son David More­ton said mem­bers would be door­knock­ing through­out the day.

‘‘The CFA will be sta­tioned at the round­abouts on the east and west side of town as well as the fire sta­tion,’’ Mr More­ton said.

He said vol­un­teers were en­cour­aged to get down to the sta­tion by 9 am on Good Fri­day to grab a tin and help rat­tle through­out the day..

‘‘Peo­ple can come down to the fire sta­tion to leave do­na­tions; they’ll be there un­til 3 pm,’’ Mr More­ton said.

A Tatura SES unit spokesper­son said their orange army would also be lend­ing a hand through­out the day with col­lec­tions.

Top Pub own­ers Jenny and Frank Lagozinno will host the an­nual Good Fri­day Auc­tion for the third con­sec­u­tive year, of­fer­ing an en­ter­tain­ing way to do­nate to the cause.

‘‘There’ll be more than 100 items up for grabs,’’ Ms Lagozinno said.

‘‘We’ll be hav­ing a char­ity auc­tion, raf­fles and give­aways; all do­nated by busi­nesses across the dis­trict.’’

She said there would be live mu­sic by Linchy from 2 pm on­wards and the guest auc­tion­eer would be for­mer Aus­tralian Rules player Mark ‘‘Jacko’’ Jack­son.

‘‘Peo­ple can come along and get a photo with Jacko and en­joy the fun day out,’’ Ms Lagozinno said.

‘‘We try to make as­much money as we can for the ap­peal.’’

Ms Lagozinno said those present could also sim­ply do­nate to the var­i­ous tins through­out the venue.

The Good Fri­day Ap­peal col­lec­tion day takes place this Fri­day, April 14.
