Suc­cess­ful sea­son for our new re­cruit

Tatura Bowls Club new re­cruit Steve ‘‘Ban­dit’’ Bald­win has added ex­ten­sively to his bowls tro­phy col­lec­tion af­ter re­lo­cat­ing to the club last year.

Bald­win be­gan his lawn bowl­ing ca­reer about 20 years ago at North Bendigo and last sea­son played at Mooroopna be­fore mov­ing to Tatura, start­ing the pen­nant sea­son with the Tatura Bowls Club.

His past bowls fi­nal events fea­tured only run­ner-up spots, but this year at Tatura he claimed the Tatura B-Grade cham­pi­onship, the 100-Up hand­i­cap cham­pi­onship and fea­tured to­gether with Paul Hussey in win­ning the Tatura Club Pairs event.

He and Hussey de­feated two of Tatura’s top bowlers — Peter LeSueur and John Attwood.

Bald­win was also run­ner-up in the Men’s Club Cham­pi­onship fi­nal to winner Ken Cor­nell.

It has been a suc­cess­ful year for ‘‘Ban­dit’’.
