Woorayl play­ers wel­comed

The re­cently held stroke event in­cluded the sec­ond qual­i­fy­ing round of the club cham­pi­onships as well as the monthly medal, spon­sored by Drum­mond Golf.

The course was in ex­cel­lent con­di­tion as was the sunny au­tum­nal weather.

A warm wel­come was given to vis­i­tors from Woorayl Golf Club who joined in the daily com­pe­ti­tion.

They have been com­ing up from Gipp­s­land for many years to play in our Easter Tour­na­ment.

Jan Coe won A-grade with a good score of 91-18-73 nett.

The run­ner up was scor­ing 81-6-75 nett.

Julie also won the scratch event for her 81 strokes.

Karen Bal­lan­tyne has been in great form since re­turn­ing to golf, win­ning the pre­vi­ous Satur­day and then win­ning B-grade on Wed­nes­day.

Her score of 98-26-72 nett also won Karen her first monthly medal.

The run­ner up in B-grade was Deb Reilly with 101-25-76 nett.

The ball win­ners were Heather Long 76, Colleen Johns 77, Sue Turn­bull, Lyn

Julie Gregg Fan­ning, Sh­eryl Cur­ran and Beryl Home 78 nett.

Near­est to the pins went to Shirley Thomas fromWoorayl Golf Club on the third spon­sored by Gallery Cafe´; Karen Bal­lan­tyne on the sixth spon­sored by Tatura Hot Bread; Julie Gregg on the ninth spon­sored by Cafe´ Alofa; Jan Coe on the 14th with the Hill Top golf ball prize.

The nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion went to Joyce Tavener who reg­u­larly fea­tures on the win­ners list, as she scored a win with 39 nett. The run­ner up was Roy­lyn Har­ris with 46 nett.

The top four qual­i­fiers in each grade for the club cham­pi­onships were de­cided and will play the semi-fi­nals match on or be­fore the April 30.

A-Grade: Julie Gregg to play Elaine Dunk and Terri Wange­man to play Heather Long.

B-Grade: Colleen Johns to play Lyn Fan­ning and Judy Baker to play Liz Mulc­ahy.

C-Grade: Lyn Flett to play Beryl Home and Sue Turn­bull to play Di Bal­lan­tyne.

Good luck to these women play­ing in the fi­nals; the club an­tic­i­pates some ex­cel­lent games to de­cide the fi­nal pair­ing.
