Woorayl players welcomed
The recently held stroke event included the second qualifying round of the club championships as well as the monthly medal, sponsored by Drummond Golf.
The course was in excellent condition as was the sunny autumnal weather.
A warm welcome was given to visitors from Woorayl Golf Club who joined in the daily competition.
They have been coming up from Gippsland for many years to play in our Easter Tournament.
Jan Coe won A-grade with a good score of 91-18-73 nett.
The runner up was scoring 81-6-75 nett.
Julie also won the scratch event for her 81 strokes.
Karen Ballantyne has been in great form since returning to golf, winning the previous Saturday and then winning B-grade on Wednesday.
Her score of 98-26-72 nett also won Karen her first monthly medal.
The runner up in B-grade was Deb Reilly with 101-25-76 nett.
The ball winners were Heather Long 76, Colleen Johns 77, Sue Turnbull, Lyn
Julie Gregg Fanning, Sheryl Curran and Beryl Home 78 nett.
Nearest to the pins went to Shirley Thomas fromWoorayl Golf Club on the third sponsored by Gallery Cafe´; Karen Ballantyne on the sixth sponsored by Tatura Hot Bread; Julie Gregg on the ninth sponsored by Cafe´ Alofa; Jan Coe on the 14th with the Hill Top golf ball prize.
The nine-hole competition went to Joyce Tavener who regularly features on the winners list, as she scored a win with 39 nett. The runner up was Roylyn Harris with 46 nett.
The top four qualifiers in each grade for the club championships were decided and will play the semi-finals match on or before the April 30.
A-Grade: Julie Gregg to play Elaine Dunk and Terri Wangeman to play Heather Long.
B-Grade: Colleen Johns to play Lyn Fanning and Judy Baker to play Liz Mulcahy.
C-Grade: Lyn Flett to play Beryl Home and Sue Turnbull to play Di Ballantyne.
Good luck to these women playing in the finals; the club anticipates some excellent games to decide the final pairing.
