Get creative for fundraiser

The Tatura Guardian - - News - By Tara Whitsed

The Tatura All Saints Anglican Church is encouraging locals to get creative ahead of its ‘Fashions made from Trash’ fundraiser event next month.

Event organiser Glenda McLeod said there were a range of items that could be made including clothing, jewellery, accessories and homewares.

Ms McLeod said people were encouraged to create the items in the lead up to the event where they would get the chance to model their special piece.

‘‘Design an outfit and model it in the parade,’’ Ms McLeod said.

‘‘See what wonderful creations you can make out of items you would normally throw away to inspire the audience.’’

She said it had been an environmental program Ms McLeod had taken part in with Lions Victoria a few years go that prompted her to come up with the idea.

‘‘I did some of this sort of stuff and it had been on my mind for years to do an event like this,’’ she said.

Ms McLeod said the event would work as a general fundraiser for the church with money raised going towards whatever was needed.

‘‘It’s all about seeing what you can do with your rubbish,’’ she said.

The event will be held at the All Saints Anglican Church in Francis St, Tatura on Saturday, September 16, from 7.30 pm.

The cost is $10 at the door and the parade will be followed by a light supper.

Entries close on September 10.

To submit entries, phone Glenda McLeod on 5824 1398 or 0411 298 113.
