The Tatura VICSES Unit’s recent blood donation drive was a success after some members as well as community members put their hands up to donate.
The donation came as part of the Australian Red Cross Blood Service’s Red25 Challenge, which called on emergency services to see who could donate the most blood between June 1 to August 31.
The team was joined by special guest Greater Shepparton City councillor Fern Summer who jumped aboard the group booking and spent the afternoon donating with the team.
Their experience can be viewed on the Tatura SES Facebook page.
‘‘The Tatura Unit of Victoria State Emergency Service was very happy to support the Australian Red Cross Blood Service’s Emergency Services Blood Challenge with a blood drive,’’ their post read.
‘‘Many thanks to the team at Shepparton Blood Bank for making us welcome.’’
A spokesperson from the Australian Red Cross Blood Service commented on the post and said they were glad to hear the team in Shepparton had made the unit feel so welcome.
‘‘Thank you so verymuch to the incredible donors who rolled up their sleeves . . . from your Red25 group,’’ they said. ‘‘Those gifts of blood will be much appreciated for recipients to get through winter.’’
